A Study on the Effects of Death Education and Death Anxiety in Older Adults£ºMediation Effects of Ego-integrity

Abstract
This study is to analyze how the elderly`s death educations considering ego-integrity as a parameter effect the elderly`s death anxiety. In the current aging society, there exist problems such as elder abuse or suicide and aggravation of their economic activities. At this point, the elderly`s ego-integrity possess a huge significance. And death education is expected to reduce death anxiety in older adults. Thus, this study is to look into the effects of the death education with mediation effects of ego-integrity on the elderly`s death anxiety. This research project was conducted in 10 senior welfare centre in Korea, from October 1st 2014 to 3rd targeting 840 elder people who were in their 60s or older, and with the data from final 656 targets, we did analysis using PASW 21.0. As a result, we can notice that elder death education affect the elderly`s death anxiety with Mediation effects of ego-integrity. That is to say, we are able to find out that if elder people take death eduction, there will be possibly a negative effect on death anxiety with positive effect on ego-integrity. Finally, this indicates that it is necessary to establish policies to develop death eduction on older adults and lead the elder people to participate death education in order to provide a positive influence on their ego-integrity and to reduce death anxiety.
